May 2010: Gambling Conference Facilitated
North Country Management Services partnered with the Prevention Team in Essex County and North Country Behavioral Healthcare Network to present the “BETCHA Don’t Know” gambling addiction prevention and treatment conference in Malone, NY. North Country Management Services provided registration and program support, venue management, speaker logistics, and accreditation. Utilizing the Malone Golf Club as a venue this conference educated over 70 professionals on current best practice for managing gambling addictions.
June 2010: North Country Management Services LLC. Contract with Franklin County Community Services Board North Country Management Services has been tapped by Franklin County to provide its Community Services Board (CSB) with board development and strategic planning services over the next 8 to 10 months. Deliverables on the project include a board orientation manual, board trainings and strategic plan which can be updated annually. Work on the project is to begin in mid August 2010.
June 2010: North Country Accounting Provides Peace of Mind to Non-Profits and Local Governments
North Country Management Services accounting continues to grow in its provision of value added outsource accounting and bookkeeping services. According to lead staff William Empsall, CPA the product line has recently grown to include non-profits, a chamber of commerce, and several local government entities. According to Empsall “the service is value add because it includes a great deal more than simple bookkeeping. We prepare tax returns including the new 990 form, prepare books for audit, and if needed establish financial policies and procedures and internal controls which incorporate today best practice in financial management.”
North Country Management Services anticipates continued growth in this product line and additional staff resources are currently being trained and will be available this fall.
July 2010: Project Management
HEARTH Homelessness Prevention Project
NCM Services we completed our second full quarter managing this $2 million project. So far 1241 Individuals or families had been served and over $469,000 in benefits have been paid to either prevent homelessness from occurring of rapidly re-housing those that have become homeless. Jefferson Country Department of Social Services, in collaboration with Lewis County Department of Social Services and St. Lawrence County Department of Social Services, was granted $1,976,673 by the New York State Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance to support the initiative, Helping Eradicate All Roads To Homelessness (HEARTH). The HEARTH program serves those struggling with current or potential homelessness in Jefferson, Lewis and St. Lawrence Counties in Northern New York.
The goal of the HEARTH program is to offer financial assistance to those individuals and families struggling with obtaining/maintaining stable housing, while simultaneously providing the tools necessary for consumers to eventually live independently.
August 2010: North Country Management Services takes on Lead Safety Officer Position in Adirondacks 90 Mile Canoe Classic
North Country Management Services will be on the starting line (and the finish line too) at this year’s Adirondack 90 mile canoe classic September 10, 11, and 12 starting in Old Forge, NY and ending in Saranac Lake. The race traces some of the original water access routes which penetrate New York State’s Adirondack wilderness. North Country Management Services has been contracted to coordinate all safety aspects of the three day, 250 boat, event including medical, traffic control, and emergency communications. The Adirondack canoe classic runs every September and is sponsored by the Adirondack Watershed Alliance.
August 2010: Mental Health Association Contracts for Board Development Services
The Mental Health Association in Jefferson County has contracted with NCM Services LLC to provide a one half day board orientation program. The training will concentrate on duties of non-profit boards; conflict of interest; relationship with the CEO and staff; and, financial policies and procedures.
